Please join this discussion about myth or fact: do steroids make a few inches you taller within the anabolic steroids category? Source: "How much does one "need" to gain in height for most of us to see an "improvement"?", by Johnathan Rachal and John M. Seifrin at the Medical College of Georgia (link to original article). I guess this should be a pretty good guide for me, as I currently have my height within two-and-a-half inches below my ideal. (I don't have an ideal I'd dare say. I guess I'm in the middle somewhere.) I get the distinct feeling that I'm shorter by about five inches, though since the height of the average human is about 168-170cm, I don't think I'm short enough to be a "true" ectomorph, and would probably be even short if my body were made exclusively of fat (a pretty rare finding), in which case I would be a "true" ectomorphic – and I have no reason to doubt that this will be true for most people, as most people of every height will be near average. I believe that there are people, somewhere, who are short by two or three inches and can't achieve their height goals, although there probably aren't many of them because, in general, most people will never, ever achieve their ideal weight and so aren't able to gain that extra ten or eighteen pounds in the right places. This is why this thread doesn't need to be about myth-debunking, which I don't feel it can be. If you're not satisfied, there's plenty for you here, since I can certainly say, from personal experience, that I'd be a much taller person if I followed these tips and practices, but I do not. I am simply a human being who works the rest of the world around me hard, who is very capable of achieving my height goals (I am now 5'6 2/4", and I've had to try and gain at least 20+ pounds in the right places since age 17), but I'm also just a human being, and therefore, as long as I don't try to hide my true height (which I don't really feel is ever necessary), then I'm fine with my height.
